Paura di fallire nella vita? Angoscia cosmica di morire solo? Ansia che il tempo a tua disposizione stia per finire? Non ti preoccupare, è solo Torschlusspanik.
Questo lemma tedesco è composto da panik, che come i più appassionati di Goethe avranno già intuito, significa panico, paura, e torschluss ovvero la chiusura delle porte. Serviva nel medioevo a descrivere il timore di chi, tornando a casa all’imbrunire, rischiava di trovare i cancelli del borgo chiusi. E una notte fuori le mura poteva costarti cara a quel tempo. Il Torschlusspanik rappresenta quindi l’ansia del tempo che sta per finire, ma d’altronde si sa che ai tedeschi piace sempre inventare parole nuove, fondendone.
Torschlusspanik è però sopravvissuto fino ai giorni nostri, evolvendo di significato e ampliandosi di semantica. acquisendo caratteristiche spiccatamente generazionali. Rappresenta l’ansia di chi incomincia a sentire che il tempo, ma quello della propria vita, sta per finire, e che bisogna sbrigarsi a concludere. Oggigiorno infatti, Torschlusspanik indica l’ansia dettata dalla paura di fallire nella vita.
Ora che la gavetta l’hai fatta e l’università l’hai finita, ci si incomincia ad aspettare qualcosa da te. Che sia dalla famiglia, dalla società o anche solo da se stessi poco importa. Hai sperimentato, hai viaggiato, hai provato e riprovato, hai fallito e riuscito. Ora cosa farai? La gioventù sta finendo e la china sta cambiando, bisogna incominciare ad essere lungimiranti. Ora che si intravede il tramonto, hai qualcuno con cui guardarlo? Qua bisogna capire come piazzarsi che rischiamo di finire poveri e soli. Torschlusspanik.
Accalappiati da questa angoscia cosmica scegliamo il primo lavoro che ci dia stabilità economica. Poco importa della laurea, l’importante è il contratto indeterminato. Anche se al supermercato: va bene. Meglio cassiere di successo che laureato fallito, almeno mi tolgo questa parola di torno senza il rischio di altre porte sbattute in faccia, che fan sempre male.
Questa ansia generazionale, può anche diventare un ausiliario in torschlusspanik heiraten, ovvero chi si sposa per la paura di rimanere solo. Poi non dite che il tedesco non è una lingua dolce: ha perfino un modo per definire i matrimoni celebrati non per amore ma per angoscia. Coppie che rimangono insieme per inerzia ed il terrore di tramontare in solitudine.
Avvinghiati dal Torschlusspanik ci impelaghiamo in relazioni al ribasso con lavori al ribasso per la paura di fallire e rimanere soli. Per fortuna che i tedeschi, con il loro tipico umorismo, non solo hanno creato questa parola per definire in modo efficiente tutto questo, ma la usano pure per sfottersi a vicenda:
"Ma tu mica eri un neuroscienziato? Com'é che sei finito a fare il fattorino? T'ha preso il Torschlusspanik?"
Quindi, se siete soli e angosciati dal futuro, non vi preoccupate: è solo un po’ di torschlusspanik. Non ascoltatelo. Prima o poi troverete le porte aperte e qualcuno con cui vale la pena aspettare mano nella mano l’imbrunire. Senza contare, che potete sempre bussare.
